Nowhere To Hide

This was the title of an article in USA Today, 5/28/04, 2B. Note this revealing quote. It exposes the fact that even people in the world know the true nature and character of certain forms of immodest dress.
"It all comes down to modesty. ’A woman in a two-piece swimsuit is wearing her underwear out so that everyone else can see,’ says Tim Tate, executive vice president of sales at Speedo America. ’It’s as revealing as a bra and panty.’"
If a gospel preacher had made those comments, he would be ridiculed for having a "dirty mind," for "trying to make laws for God," and for "trying to bind his opinions on everyone else." Well, a gospel preacher did not make them. Now, what?
Mr. Tate says that a "two-piece suit" is "as revealing as a bra and panty." Who can disagree with that? Indeed, one is as "revealing" as the other, for there is not a thread’s worth of difference between what they cover and what they fail to cover. Is it a shame for one to appear in public in his underwear? If so, we appropriate Paul’s words on another topic. If it be a shame for a person to appear in public "wearing her underwear," it is also a shame for her to wear a two-piece swimsuit; therefore, "let her be covered" (Cf. 1 Cor. 11:6).
